The Guardian is a so-called 'Emergency Towing Vessel (ETV)', an emergency tug. The vessel is leased from Multraship Towage & Salvage. They ensure the readiness and maintenance of the ship and provide the crew. Management takes place from the Coastguard Center in Den Helder.


Where other ships go to port in bad weather, the Guardian goes to sea from wind force 5 Beaufort or more! This is to take a convenient position to be on site as quickly as possible in the event of a (possible) incident. The main task of the Guardian is to prevent calamities.
