About Rainbow Warrior III

• The Rainbow Warrior III is a purpose-built motor-assisted sailing yacht designed for Greenpeace International’s global environmental campaigns. Built at Fassmer Shipyard, Germany, under a $32 million contract funded by over three million sponsors, the 57.9 m vessel entered service in December 2011.
• Incorporating state-of-the-art green marine technology, she is powered primarily by wind and supported by efficient diesel-electric systems. The ship’s design minimizes environmental impact, recycling engine heat to warm cabins and treating wastewater through a biological purification system.
• Serving as a mobile base for Greenpeace operations worldwide, Rainbow Warrior III is equipped for rapid deployment of inflatable boats, features a helicopter landing pad, and provides facilities for scientific research at sea.

The Build

• Constructed in 2015, the LEGO® model required extensive reference work, including shipyard drawings and photography provided by Greenpeace. The build presented unique challenges in recreating the twin-mast rig and curved hull sections while maintaining structural strength. Custom rigging solutions, precision alignment of the deck equipment, and accurate reproduction of the rainbow livery were key to delivering a faithful representation. The final model is both a display centerpiece and a technical showcase of large-scale LEGO® shipbuilding.
